Lost in the swamp of modernity (from the New Statesman). Found this courtesy of Jerry Pournelle. Essentially makes an argument that fundamentalism (in many incarnations) held back the non-Western world from generating ideas of scope and power in the 20th Century. Alternately you can interpret it as an argument for the power of a scientific world view in promoting new ideas. |
