Summer reading lists

I've gotten a couple of queries and requests about what I would suggest as Summer reading if you happened to be interested in knowledge management. I've also mentioned or suggested things to read over the course of the quarter. Here are my reading recommendations.

First, in case you missed it the first time round is my top 10 reading list on knowledge management. It remains my recommended starting point for this topic.

Looking ahead I have three sets of recommendations, depending on your interests and willingness to gamble.

  Summer reading on knowledge management

These are either books that have recently been published about the knowledge management area that are worthwhile or they touch on foundation issues such as learning or reflection in important ways.

  Recommended science fiction

I've argued in several settings that science fiction is a useful lens for understanding how technology, and information technology in particularly, might impact organizations and culture. It's a demonstration of the power of storytelling as a knowledge tool. The strength of good science fiction over scenarios or other strategic planning tools is the ability to use a sensitivity to the human condition to garner insight about the impact of technology.

Stuff on my own reading list, so the jury is out

This is my initial reading list for the summer. Science ficiton, trashy beach novels, and other fare are not included. I'll add comments as I work my way through the list. I'll also add and subtract titles as appropriate.
