I've been heads down on a major new project and the backlog in my news aggregator continues to swell. Over the weekend, however, I got an email from a reader asking if I had any information about Ellen Parr, who was credited with the quote that I use for my tagline here. Six months ago, another reader wrote and suggested that I had the attribution of the quote wrong, crediting it then to Dorothy Parker. Some quick searching on Google and various internet quotation sites all appeared to credit Ellen Parr with the remark so I updated my tagline. This weekend's query sent me back to do a little deeper research. That search led me to a genealogy forum where the same question arose . Seems that Ms. Parr was credited with the quote in the Reader's Digest in December of 1980, but that the original remark does appear to belong to Dorothy Parker after all. So, I've changed the tagline back to what it was in the beginning. So not only is there no cure for curiosity, there is no end to it either. |
